FYM: We pray to have Christ for our needs. Mark 10:45

It is a spiritual truth to say that we each have great need for Christ. It also behooves on us to claim that we each have great Christ for our need,

The Disciples of Jesus were schooled for three years. Perhaps like all students do, they paid more attention to what Jesus said. It would take the disciples three years to learn by experience. Jesus will teach them and us by example. Jesus knows from the onset of his ministry that he came to earth not to be served but to serve others, and to give his life as ransom for many. The first Gospel writer, Mark, involves us in the dramatic presentation of Jesus’ life. Mark tells Jesus’ story in the present tense. He focuses on what Jesus does than on what he says. The life of Jesus displays his blend of perfect humanity and all powerful deity. For our sake, Jesus eats, sleeps, weeps, gets tired and exercises feelings. As God, Jesus manifests powers over nature, controls history and promises salvation. We are to learn to appreciate that Jesus’ service and sacrifice demonstrate the pattern for us to live as his followers

PRAY: Great God of glory and grace, we thank you for Jesus born your son and became a human being to claim us as brothers and sisters in faith. Make us one with Jesus in your favour, so that we enjoy your love, and live to serve you in the ways he shows us to do, in the power of the Holy Spirit. Gracious God; you are the source of all knowledge and the spring of all wisdom. Grant that what we read, what we write, what we speak, and what we hear are guided by your Spirit. Take away all wickedness, and wrong teaching from among us; grant that your message is proclaimed for the good of your people; the extension of your reign; the glory of your name.

As the passing year closes and another year begins, make us bright and beautiful like a rose flower. But protect us from evil by your provisions of weapons of Truth, Justice, Peace, Faith, Grace and Word. (Eph. 6:13-17)

Lord in your goodness, hear our prayer.
